Downhere - Let Me Rediscover You (Official Music Video)

Another good one. Sometimes I don't have any words, but God gives us songs to express our pain and longing.

Jennie - wondering how you are doing. Long time . . .

Hope you have fun plans for Thanksgiving. We had our first snow which I'm afraid I'm not thrilled with - the long siege has begun.

Hi Christine,
It's good to hear from you. I'm doing ok. I seem to be up one day (or week) and down the next. I'm learning that I need to be in prayer and in scripture every day and hour, whether I'm feeling good or bad. I'm seeing in myself the war between flesh and Spirit: "I say then: Walk in the Spirit, and you shall not fulfill the lust of the flesh. For the flesh lusts against the Spirit, and the Spirit against the flesh; and these are contrary to one another, so that you do not do the things that you wish." Galatians 5:16-17
Saying that I know I need to be in scripture every day, however, doesn't mean that I'm doing this consistently. If I would, it would help me to stay balanced and more at peace. I feel like I'm under attack, with temptations and still dealing with family stress, etc.. The counseling is good, but it also keeps me thinking about all the things that I need to work on, which gets rather overwhelming.
Anyway, there are too many things going on in my head and heart for me to explain. I probably spend too much time thinking, and should try to focus outwardly on helping my kids and my husband and simplifying and organizing our lives and our home.
Our church has broken up also. It's been a couple of months since we all met together. Anon will be interested in this, since it happened because our pastor has been studying Calvinism for several years, and is now going towards more extreme Calvinism. He started having us study the '1689 London Baptist Confession in Sunday school class'. Most of us are not Calvinists, so it didn't work. There's more to it, but I won't go into detail right now. We are meeting in a home church with several of the families from the old church, plus some new families also. That's been good.
Enough for now. How are you doing? I hope your husband is well. I also hope the winter won't be too long and cold up there. I guess you have nicer summers than we do, to help balance it out :) I pray for you, as well as for Anon (and Leo, whom you may remember and who emails me sometimes) whenever I get on here to check my blog. I'm writing some more about counseling, and hope I will have some more to blog about soon. I'm not sure what direction it will take. I've lost heart for arguing. :)

We go to my parents' for Thanksgiving day, and then to Eddie's parents' on Saturday. My sweet Mom-in-law always invites a crowd, so it's always noisy and interesting.
I have my 'catholic' Pilgrim and Indian figurines out, too. ;) I like them alot, but my seven year old thinks the Indians are strange because the girl Indian is holding corn in her arms and the boy and girl are both gazing lovingly at it, like it's a baby. She made signs to put on them: the Pilgrims are 'smart' and the Indians are, of course, 'weirdos'. :)
I hope you have fun plans too. What does your family do on Thanksgiving?

For Thanksgiving we're going to my sis-in-law's which is great. I will cook but not have to clean my not-so-well-kept house. I love a good hot-and-noisy crowd - the best times were when my kids and their cousins were young; they had a blast and it was just crazy.

The Indian girl with the corn reminds me of Little House on the Prairie where Mary had a nice real doll and Laura had to make do with Susan who was "just a corncob wrapped in a handkerchief." Laura remarked to herself that "Susan couldn't help it that she was only a corncob".

Wow - that's interesting about your church and Calvinism. Good for those of you who couldn't in good conscience go along with it. I'd like to hear more about how you realized the pastor was bringing those ideas in. What about your ladies' group?

Miraculously, my husband hasn't been suicidal for a few months. Don't know what made him better, and am just trying to appreciate it while it lasts.

Hi Christine,
Well, my in-laws thanksgiving planned for Saturday has been cancelled, due to my poor mom-in-law being ill with bronchitis. She is getting better, but is not up to the crowd, so the two of them will hopefully come over to our house instead.
We're having a nice time at my parents though, and I'm so full I can't eat dessert yet, three hours later.
I love the Little House books, too. I enjoyed them so much when I was young, and still like to read them. I read most of them aloud to my older girls when they were younger. It's humbling to see how content they were often on so little, and what good attitudes they had in hardship.
Our ladies group isn't meeting for now, though I'd like to start it up again, since we all still see each other, except for the pastor's wife; she's a sweet lady, and I miss her.
I may blog some about what happened in our church later on. It apparently has happened in several churches in the area, when the pastor has gone into Calvinism.
I'm so glad to hear that your husband is doing better. I hope he keeps on that way. I'll keep praying for you both :)
Hope you are having a good day!
