Thoughts of Francis Turretin: Of Mary, there is never enough.
I don't see Mary the Queen of Heaven in any of these passages I've posted for the last two weeks, but I do see Jesus Christ the Creator, Savior, and King (who saves by the strength of His own arm) exalted in all of these passages. I see Mary the humble Virgin who represents the 'Virgin Daughter of Israel' who gives birth to her own Savior and Deliverer, and who then becomes the humble wife of Joseph and bears more children to her husband. Joseph and Mary represent Israel and God her protector. Israel will not refuse to bear fruit for her Husband.
The Woman of Revelation 12 is not Mary. Mary is only a part of her, the one Israelite girl chosen graciously to bear the Savior. The Woman is Israel who gives birth to her Savior. The male Child is Christ and the church united. Christ is the Head, born first, and the Church is the body of Christ. Many Church fathers testify to this. Mary is never exalted above the other believers in God's Word.
